Hi John,
I noticed there have been issues with incubating leo eggs in a hovabator due to lack of humidity. Have there been any similiar issues with crested eggs? Are there any special recommendations? I normally use 50/50 perlite vermiculite in deli cups.
Any help would be great!

John A Posted: 2010-08-08 | "SIM" type of incubation generally fail in top heated incubators such as Little Giant, Hovabators, or Reptibators. What happens is the heat element on the lid of the incubator does not build the condensation inside the SIM container as well as bottom heated or air circulated incubators. If you have a top heating incubator, attaching a dampened sponge to the inside lid of the SIM container will activate the condensation when the heat hits the sponge, condensation will then form and the eggs will incubate normally. This has been proven to work with top heated incubators. There is a thread showing this on geckoforums.net where leopard geckos hatched with the sponge on the SIM lid.
Best regards,
John

Hey everybody, I'm using the SIM for the first time this season. Actually, I'm using it for the first time breeding any reptiles at all... this season. It's going well so far, I have four leo eggs in the cooker, and can't wait to see them pop out. I'm looking forward to that accelerated hatching I'm reading about. |

John A Posted: 2010-02-10 | Hello,
If you've been successful using a perlite or Vermiculite incubation medium mixed with water, continue using this ratio in the S.I.M. If this would be your first time breeding cresteds, get set up with an incubator, and buy your necessities- thermostat, thermometer, substrate. pre-set your SIM container so youre ready for the eggs. Good luck! I'd ask Matt over at Pangea what he uses for his SIM container substrate.

ebreptiles Posted: 2010-02-08 | Just saw your SIM advertised at www.pangea.com. Looks very interesting! I currently breed Crested Geckos, Leopard Geckos, Giant Day Geckos and Corn Snakes. I will purchase one of your containers and give it a try. It seems to beat the old deli cup method for geckos and "other" containers for snakes. Does the your container come with instruction for porper set up? I post pics when I hatch my first Crested Geckos.
Thanks for a new, innovative reptile product! |

ReptiPro Posted: 2009-12-30 |
We here at ReptiPro will be using the SIM for the first time this year. Hoping to see some even more improved hatch rates as well as healthier babies. Thanks for bringing another great product to our industry. Also cannot wait to see if the units fit well inside our Reptile Incubator and make efficient use of the space. |
|
John A Posted: 2009-12-30 | Based on the interior dimensions of the ReptiPro 5000 (Interior Dimensions: 9.5" x 10.5" x 14.5"), 3 S.I.M. Containers fit inside stacked on top of each other. S.I.M. dimensions are 8" long, 6.75" wide, 4.5" high.
I have seen it in person incubating Bearded Dragon eggs recently, will try to get a photo.
Thanks for the kind words regarding our product, we always mention your incubator to customers looking for a digitally controlled incubator. if you have any questions regarding the incubation process using the S.I.M. just ask.
Best of luck and happy new year!

John A Posted: 2009-11-08 | The larger version is 6 quart tub size, but taller to handle larger eggs. |
|
LdyDrgn Posted: 2009-11-07 | I can't wait for the larger size to come in. I would really like to try these out with our Spilotes eggs!
Will they be large enough to handle, say... retic or burm eggs? |
|
John A Posted: 2009-10-21 | Wow that's great. This is the second known hatch of beardies using the S.I.M. The first going to Bill Yeastadt in Pennsylvania. His first pip was at 60 days.
Cheers,
John

Carpetpythons.com.au Posted: 2009-10-19 | First S.I.M. hatching in Australia. Not the most exciting clutch but this was really effortless. John A Posted: 2009-10-18 | Here's the latest...
1.) Currently in China working on the blue prints for the next S.I.M. This one will be for larger eggs and larger clutch numbers. I will be able to handle Ball Python, Sulcata, Beardie, Varanus sized eggs. Once production is a go, I will post availability and pricing. The high quality and crystal clear body are a constant.
Bulk orders of 500 S.I.M. can be custom tinted. This might be a good thing for breeders who use light bulb type incubators. I am able to "smoke" the entire S.I.M. or make it completely opaque.
Thanks again for the business!
Cheers,
John, Shannon and Gregg

John A Posted: 2009-09-03 | Just launched the site this evening. Still a few bugs to work out especially with regards to shipping. Anyone who wants to buy S.I.M.Containers, please email me to get a shipping quote. info@squamataconcepts.com
We hope this function is fixed for a smooth transaction in a week or so.
European customers:
Shipping rates from FEDEX, UPS, and DHL are ridiculous! Best way would be Landed orders straight from the factory in China. I will look into this immediately. |
